Not too long ago Obama was elected to bring hope and change to a country that was thirsty for hope and change. With majorities and both houses of Congress the White House set out to at great neck speed to pass a number issues that they had campaigned on.
Speed up to the the 2010 mid terms and the White House has had to strong arm fellow democrats to go get a health care bill through and defend and explain a $700 Billion stimulus that didnt really stimulate the economy. The economy is still sputtering by all accounts and is not likely to change by election day. The combination of the real estate collapse and the banks not lending credit means that many individuals like states will be forced to balance their budgets or go without.
I think that part of the problem was the attitude of the democrats towards the public that the party knows better than the people. Obamas challenge is that he will need to show some results that the American people can see and feel otherwise a well spoken speech usually rings hollow.
