CNN Youtube debate was a sham

It turns out the most trusted name in news cant be trusted when it comes to its coverage of political debates. Its been learned that the most of the questions from the youtube people were actually supporters of democrat campaigns including a former general who asked the republican candidates about gays openly serving in the military. The CNN producers should have vetted these people for potential conflicts of interest. It was not fair for the candidates or the viewers to have debate that was tainted from the beginning. There are serious issues to be debated in the next year with regards to the presidential election. Im not sure if this was political bias or journalistic incompetence. CNN has a national reputation which has now been tarnished. At least now we have the internet to keep CNN honest or any other media outlet for that matter. The press is given constitutional protections so that they can hold the government accountable. But sadly the citizens must now hold the media accountable for misrepresentations and dishonesty.

Bush approval rating higher than democratic congress

While Bush's approval rating is at an all time low, congress's approval rating is even worse according to realclearpolitics.com. This is interesting because the media continues to suggest that Bush is weak and does not have a mandate. That he needs to show leadership. Isn that why the democrats were elected? They havent been able to get anything done since their first hundred days. They have failed to override the president on almost every issue that they care about. Most notably getting out of Iraq. The hard left wanted to get out of Iraq immediately. The frontruners in the democratic party president are now mincing words and suggesting that it would irresponible to withdraw early. You very rarely hear CNN for example questioning the House leadership about how they cant get bills through. You know that if this were a republican lead congress CNN would be all over it. Why do I say that? Because that is exactly what happened when the republicans did have control of congress. The mainstream media hounded the republicans day after day. So who is their whipping boy now--Bush.

Is the party over?

That is the question that seems political circles these days. Are we no different than the democrats. Most Americans do not look at party labels when deciding on who to vote for. Does the party label matter anymore? It probably doesnt to the general public but it does matter to those who work politicals professionally. One of the essentially functions of parties is to organize and motivate volunteers on a large scale especially for presidential elections. This takes a lot of money and coordination. Unfortunately the GOP has donea bad job of effectively courting minority groups. Its no secret that the demographics of the United States is changing. There are fewer and fewer white people. Whether you agree or disagree with illegal immigration. Minorities are the new majority of the future. So we need to be prepared as a party to accomodate their interests and concerns. Its not enough to hire a coordinator three months before the election to convince minorities to vote for our candidates. The party must make a consistent effort throughout the entire year or there will be no party all.
