School district to allow contraceptives to middle schoolers
The Portland, ME school district is set to allow middle schoolers to use contraceptives without the consent of parents. How ridiculous is this. Parents are the ones who are responsible for the welfare of their kids. They cant even take an aspirin without the parents consent and now they want kids to have access to birth control without the parents consents. This will just encourage these kids to have more sex and thus increase the pregnancy rate among our younger teen agers. Some will say that they are going to do it anyways. But I will argue that we wouldnt say that about drugs. So under that argument we should just let teenagers do whatever they want because we cant stop them. Of course some kids will do whatever they want but I think we are giving up too easily. Our children are growing up way too fast. If children dont have boundaries when they are young then they will become irresponsible and unproductive as adults.
